Forced Circulation Evaporators

Engineering and Manufacturing Crystallizers for Chemical Process Industries

Forced Circulation Evaporators

Designed for processing challenging liquors prone to scaling and fouling, forced circulation evaporators offer a highly dependable evaporation method. By utilizing mechanical force to drive fluid at high velocities, these systems maximize turbulence within the heat exchanger. This extreme turbulence allows facilities to achieve high heat transfer coefficients while actively scrubbing the tube walls to increase the time between boil-outs.

Benefits of Forced Circulation Evaporators:
  • Effectively handle viscous streams and solutions with a high potential to crystallize
  • Achieve high heat transfer rates through extreme fluid turbulence
  • Reduce scaling to extend operational uptime

How Forced Circulation Evaporators Work:

In these systems, the circulation liquor is driven by a high capacity pump, which forces the fluid through the heat exchanger tubes. Instead of relying on gravity, the liquor is propelled by mechanical force to travel at high velocities. As it moves, the rapid flow creates a highly turbulent environment inside the tubes.

It is this turbulence that enables the system to transfer heat effectively while having the added benefit of reducing scale. Because the equipment’s performance relies heavily on this forced mechanical circulation, operators must ensure the pumps are functioning optimally. The main operational and maintenance consideration is managing the increased electricity consumption required.
